It's easy to overlook this restaurant south of the CBD, away from Adelaide's eat streets of Hutt, Rundle and Gouger. The innately Italian vibe is reinforced with a busy atmosphere, efficient service, and intimate table settings. No corners are cut, nor are traditions foregone. La Trattoria's Andy Parisi won the American Plate at the World's Best Pizza Competition held in New York in November 2004. His pizzas arrive piping hot, with each topping given ample space and opportunity to woo the diner. The crust is crisp, yet yielding and the whole experience makes you wonder why people resort to any of the franchised alternatives. The wine list features a number of Italian options, with some excellent commercial Italian wines for those wary of anything new. The location may not be trendy, but for the best pizza experience, it's worth it to take class over image.

Very long-time favourite restaurant(I've known Andy since his Marcellina days in the '60s). Always splendid food (I love spaghetti puttanesca), and excellent friendly service. Even late diners after concerts are made welcome!

better than when i travelled through europe
I havent been to La Trattoria for a while as we have been away for quite some time, but under different circumstances, my partner and I had thought about coming back after so long. after spending several months trying to find a decent pizza place with flavoursome, good quality ingredients, travelling as far as 45 mins away from where we live,we have finally felt like we have "hit thejackpot" the pizza was so tasty that we ordered a second one exactly the same. However, to male the evening PERFECT was the superb service of Theresa. The service of a professional, but withthe love and care of a Mum. Thank you for a beautiful evening :-)

what a shame
This restaurant was my absolute favourite, and my partner and I used to come here every week for a long time before other commitments meant that we couldn't. so not visiting for a while, we decided to go back and have our usual favourites.
Unfortunately as time went on, so did the quality and quantity of food i must say as our plates looked thinner than they used to and the wow factor seemed to have gone.
Service wasn't the same either, as we used to feel very cared for and always walked away happy to leave a good tip, but attention to detail was lacking as we had to look around for a while to signal somebody to take our order. We we're starving by the time the food came out and overall, disappointed.

Real Italiana
My (native Adelaidian) wife and I have moved here from Sydney 3 months ago and have since been searching for a real Italian woodfire pizza restaurant. Been really missing good service especially.
La Trattoria blew me away tonight. Service was brilliant, food was beautiful and we will be back.

La Trattoria
As usual, fab food, fun waiters and atmosphere. This place never disappoints after many years of patronage. Very surprised at previous bad review, but I guess nothing is 100% all the time.

A real Italian restaurant
Myself and 3 guests had the best night at La Tratt. I know where all those old school waiters are now! These guys know how to work a table and the amount of people they had in the restaurant they didnt miss a beat. We love this place and every time we have eaten here we see other regular customers that make the restaurant feel like it is your second home. You even catch a waiter or two burst into an Italian song while they are serving. Adelaide knows where to go to get a great pizza, the worlds best even, and it shows. You never know who will walk in next.

Italy in Adelaide
If you want atmosphere and a restaurant that has been around for a long time then this is the place for you. Old Italian waiters that have been around for 30+ years and know service. Just like I would imagine them in Italy, waiting is their only job and they're not 16 just out of school. The pizzas are really the best I have had and most of Adelaide knows it (they had people lining up!). I loved the host, Andy. Our food was excellent and I felt like the waiters were just about to sing to me. The group I was with think that this place is diamond. Go and experience old school.

Birthday Fiasco
With a group of 10 we came here with great expectations. When we booked we informed the restaurant that we required wheelchair access. I also informed them again when I confirmed numbers. On the night our table was tucked away in the corner of the restaurant and down a step making it impossible to get our friend’s chair in. To be fair the waiter did apologise and said he hadn't noticed the request on the booking. We were given a table by the door. This was good for access but not so good for atmosphere or temperature. We found the waiter quite brusque in his manner, we were offered drinks when we arrived but were not offered any subsequently. The food was ordinary to say the least, none of us had the world-famous pizza, but the minestrone was very bland as was my main course of pollo gamberi. The chicken was very over-cooked and came with a sweet tomato sauce that tasted like tinned soup. It was served with limp and watery vegetables and the most ancient potato I have ever seen. All in all a most disappointing experience.
