La Mint

La Mint doesn't immediately give itself away as a Vietnamese restaurant. The long elegant space with its crisp white lines, square timber pillars and slate-grey brickwork could house any restaurant in Sydney. Low tables down one side of the room lend a hint of traditionalism to an otherwise modern Western space. The menu is similarly ambiguous in places, reflecting the significant influence of French colonisation. Dishes might include a La Mint specialty of shaking beef with snake beans or drunken mud crab, or a distinctly Gallic-influenced oxtail a la bourguignon.

Great specialty menu
Found La Mint by accident and weren't disappointed. The escargot should not be missed and entirely different from the garlicky french version, the Pork Belly is the house specialty and is a delight to the palate as was the Five Spice Duck special. The dessert's were disappointing and seemed to drift from the main essence of French/Vietnamese infusion such as a Brulee or tart with a vietnamese twist but rather were very basic and tendered to cater towards a childs preference. Will definitely return but would definitely not order a dessert. In addition there was only one sweet wine (sticky) on the wine list and this was only available by the bottle. One comment regarding the service is the wait staff were professionally attired and acted accordingly (5* star) however, the bar tender and maitre d' were dressed in jeans and addressed patrons and presented plates of food in a very laid back and familiar manner which can be confusing for the patrons.
