For authentic woodfired pizzas and homemade Italian desserts, head to the award-winning La Disfida Enoteca Pizza. Under new ownership since December 2010, this famed trattoria of Haberfield continues to win over new fans with dishes like octopus braised with tomato, olives and herbs; homemade potato gnocchi; ricotta and spinach crepes; and of course, those authentic mozzarella-coated pizzas.

Oh what a night!
We had just arrived back from a 2 week holiday and with no food in the house ventured to La Disfida. We had heard it had been taken over by new owners recently. Well we were NOT disappointed. The food, service and and restaurant makeover were all brilliant. Still the yummy , authentic pizza you expect but with so much more than that on offer; the service was great; attentive and polite; and just a great buzz and vibe in entire restaurant. And it was packed. Look forward to my next visit.

What a shame
Food used to be good. Now the food is below average and the service is probably the worst in Sydney. I wouldn't bother when there are so many other good and great places to eat on the same street. Places where people will smile and served food that is really good and not just pretending to be good.

Never again
I went with my 12 year old daughter. We tried to enter at 5.55pm - but was advised (with some distain) that they don't open till 6pm. We went for a wander and came back. The service was very basic. I brought a bottle of wine, the waitress opened it and left it there, no pouring, no ice bucket (it was white wine). When we got our pizzas, there were no plates, just the plate the pizza came on. Corkage was $4.50 as well, and soft drink was $4.50. Water wasn't provided till we requested it. The bill was $62, service was very basic and the pizzas were ordinary. There were no tablecloths, minimal service and average food, I think they need to lift their game. Haberfield is bristling with good pizza joints. La Disfida seem to be resting on their laurels re their previous form. I would go out of my way to deter people from this place. It was like they couldn't care less about their customers. It could do with a coat of paint as well.

The people that arrived much later after us had their food pizza pasta salad , we only orded 1 pizza 1 pasta , so we were asking why are we waiting so long and she said sorry and still we waited another 15mins untill our food arrived and we asked another waitress why we were waiting so long and she did not say anything The pizza was 22.50 and so so and the pasta was with mussels yuck. A consistent good feed
The pizzas here are authentic - simple ingredients and only a few of them, on a pizza crust that feels and tastes like you were in an eatery in Roma or Napoli. Kudos for the simplicity. It works.
