It's hard enough to find South American cuisine in Sydney in any form, so it's an even rarer treat to discover this 'Peruvian Kitchen' in the heart of Randwick. It also doesn't hurt the authenticity factor when the restaurant is affiliated with a South American food importer. So what is Peruvian food? Well, you can start with the tamales Peruanos (chilli-flavoured corn masa stuffed with chicken or pork); the lime-cured ceviche of fresh seasonal fish; or maybe a papa rellena, which looks like a potato version of arancini, except you get a surprise dose of mince in the middle. Then splurge on everything from seafood soup (chupe de camarones) to lamb stew with Andean potatoes and Peruvian hominy (a type of maize), or maybe the spiced and battered fish served with fried yucca (cassava) and salsa. Finish it off with such out-of-the-ordinary desserts like the Peruvian donuts doused in syrup, or the 'mazamorra morada', made with purple corn, cinnamon, fruit and cloves.

One of the seven wonders alright
Peruvian food has arrived here in a very small way but it's starting to really take people by surprise. I was one of them.
This is my true opinion of this Peruvian restaurant in Randwick: bloody great food if you really feel like something different but really yummy go and try a nice causa limena and then a ceviche with a nice seco de cabrito. Can't wait till I go there again.

Comida de sobres instantaneos
I've been in this restaurant a few times and I have always been disappointed, but honestly I may go again as there are not many Peruvian restaurants around. The food is mostly from pre-mixed packages (almost impossible to get fresh traditional ingredients in Sydney), so if you are going to compare what you get here with what you will eat in Peru just don't go and save yourself the pain. If you have never tried Peruvian food before, this place will give you a very close version of what you will try in a mediocre place in Peru. The presentation of the plates looks like they were dished at home, they need to work on this. I have never seen a plate looking like the one in the picture. Having the food made from premixed packages should not excuse to not add some extra flavours, I have use some of those premixes they sell and got better results at home. My rating is comparing it with typical Peruvian food, otherwise it will be a star higher.
