Basic home-cooked French
My wife chose the crab omelette for an entree and the lobster Theodore for a main, while I chose the avocado vinaigrette followed by the pheasant.
We also ordered garlic bread which we did not receive.
The restaurant was very quiet with just two other tables being served.
The crab omelette and avocado vinaigrette arrived in good time.
My wife could have done with just the omelette alone as it was a very large serving for an entree. She ended up sharing her omelette with me and I must say there was very little evidence of crab. The avocado vinaigrette however was very tasty and most enjoyable.
In the mean time I enquired about ordering some French wine, however we told there was none on the wine list. Instead we ordered an Australian rose and enjoyed it all the same.
Next out came the main meals. My wife s lobster in two halves with a generous helping of steamed vegetables. My pheasant too was accompanied with the same variety of steamed vegetables. The pheasant looked like it was struggling to keep a float with the over generous amount of gravy swamping both the bird and the vegetables. My plate was akin to a high tide.
A quick glance around the restaurant confirmed that all other meals too were presented with an over abundant amount of gravy.
After gorging ourselves on the fare we ventured into the deserts and enjoyed sharing a crepe suzette for two. However again the generosity of the accompanying Cointreau overpowered the sweets.
I finished with a Vienna coffee and the most delectable after dinner mints I have ever experienced.
Overall the food was good however it was not great. Home style cooking would be the best way to describe the experience. Definitely not a traditional French restaurant.
At $233 for a couple it was a bit over priced.

Good French Food
A small intimate venue located in a converted house. The food was very well cooked with great taste and flavour. The servings were large but possibly let down a little by presentation, but the taste made up for it. Staff is owner and has good interaction with customers, no pretentious wait staff here. The wine list is a little sparse. Overall a great meal.

Food consistantly superb. Menu varied, wine list above reproach. Each dish a delight to the senses. We have never eaten a meal there that wasn't perfect. Paul and Michelle.
