A Willoughby institution for decades, this homely trattoria is a local favourite for honest, down-home Italian cuisine. The space is bright and casual, feeling more like a family kitchen than a posh fine diner, hence the oh-so-accessible prices and generous servings. The menu features genuine Italian thin-crust pizzas, seafood dressed with the most simple of accompaniments and hearty regional dishes. A significant part of La Botte's success is the warm and friendly service and the sight of owner Ercole Perego swooping from table to table with his uniquely Italian charm.

Exceptional restaurant hidden away...
What can I say? THE best Italian restaurant I've been to in Sydney so far. Things that make it so great:
1) Food - very authentic. It may challenge the way that you think of Italian food, but they try to make it as close to what is done in Italy. Extremely knowledgeable of traditional cooking styles, etc.
2) Decor - nice decor giving a very family-style restaurant feeling. But add a candle and dim the lights, and it instantly goes romantic.
3) Service - exceptional. The host (Ercole) is extremely warm and friendly, as is his son Paulo. You got a problem, they fix it up straight away.
Give this one a try - I'm sure you won't regret it. As for me, they've made a new customer for life (after only having been there just two times).
