From Cuba to London and Beirut the famous "home of the mojito" has spread from its humble beginnings in Havana to a worldwide phenomenon. Now it's Sydney's turn to get a taste.
In the huge, multistoreyed building, bars sprawl in all directions, each themed to the last minute detail on the bohemian stylings of Cuba in the 1950s. From the live music to the plethora of rum-based cocktails (they don't just do mojitos), La Bodeguita is set to become one of Sydney's hottest night spots.
On the food front, chef Danny Parreno has created a modern menu based in Cuban cooking but also takes short jaunts to wider Central and South America. With this in mind, expect to see Peruvian ceviche and Oaxacan mole negro sauce as much as you'll find croquetas and empanadas.
