Offering true Shanghainese dishes, Kou Kee Peking has a blackboard of specials that changes daily. Despite this, the eatery's most popular dish - a deep fried whole yellow croaker in a sweet and sour sauce (a sauce which doesn't taste or look like the popular Cantonese version) - tends to really draw the crowds. While not fully-licensed, Kou Kee Peking offers fans of Chinese cuisine a little more variety than many of Sydney's Cantonese outlets with their staples of honey prawns and sweet and sour chicken.
