They say good things come in small packages, and that certainly applies to Koto Sushi, with its jazzy green signage, abstract seaweedy logo and funky fresh decor. It takes its name from a traditional Japanese string instrument, and looking at the surprisingly extensive menu, the prices are undoubtedly music to the ears. A bento box of teriyaki chicken, beef or fish - from just $7.90 - includes rice, salad and appetisers. For the same price, you can pick up a bowl of udon, while the freshly prepared sushi and delicious crispy tempura starts at just $1.20. You might just drop in for a takeaway, but if you can spare the time, take a pew on a pod, which looks uncannily like an oversized mashmallow, or a cushioned bench seat, add a green tea to your order and indulge in a quiet Zen moment.

Best Japanese food
Honestly the best Japanese you will find in Perth for the price, great cafe style atmosphere and attentive service from the owner! Try the squid salad, chicken katsu-don (or teriyaki) and tuna sushi!
