Owner Ramy Shapovry's mellifluous voice can often be heard at this personable North Shore eatery as he suggests a bevy of authentic Persian dishes to his loyal clientele. With white tablecloths and a warmly lit dining room, Kolbeh Persian Restaurant offers some intriguing specialties such as gheime - lamb stewed with split peas in a rich tomato sauce and sundried lime; and the grilled fish fillet in lime and saffron juice.
For dessert the traditional Persian ice-cream, made by combining a mix of saffron and rose water, is a true delight of vibrant colour that is only rivalled by the richly hued belly-dancers that perform, accompanied by a live band, on Friday and Saturday nights.
