As soon as you walk in the door of Koko you'll see two precious babies. The first is a photo of the owner's little girl. The second is the gleaming La Marzocco coffee machine that the photos are happily affixed to.
At Koko they take their Allpress coffee seriously - it's strong and made with purpose. The food follows a similar brief: it has to be seasonal, fresh and prepared daily on-site. Behind the simple open kitchen, written up on white tiles, is a menu of crowd-pleasing favourites that has been well-honed over the years.
The breakfast wrap with egg, bacon, rocket and relish is worthy of a fan club, while a rustic tuna salad with rocket, tomato and avocado (which also comes as a burrito-sized wrap) proves hard to go past at lunch. The chicken wrap comes stuffed with avocado, parmesan, mayonnaise and caramelised onion, and deserves the house moniker of 'classic' - particularly when toasted and the parmesan starts to melt.
In summer the fresh fruit frappes are perfect to sip while the breeze wanders in through the bi-fold doors, and once the weather starts to turn locals flock to Koko for vats of house-made soup, often busting about with surprising twists of coriander and chilli.
