The name is Kitsch Bar, and the decor is quirky and eclectic to match its titular promise. Arriving amid a surge in Perth's small bars, Kitsch Bar stands out with its earthy-meets-oriental-meets-tropical look, which can be said to reflect the modern Asian mishmash of the menu. Aiming to deliver honest, low-priced, authentic Chinese, Malaysian, Thai and Singaporean market food in a bar setting, head chef Annita Potter goes out on a limb with interesting dishes like a coconut mussel pancake, a northern organic mutton curry, and braised angus beef with black vinegar and a hot and sour salad. Given this gourmet pedigree, Potter's cooking classes are sure to be full of sugar and spice.
