Kingsleys Steak and Crabhouse

A long way from the surf, but in the midst of plenty of turf, this Canberra restaurant combines the best of both worlds with its steak and seafood menu. The menu begins with the usual seafood starters (including a great selection of oysters) while the mains move from simple beef or barramundi burgers to high-quality (and a few high-priced) specialty steaks. Vegetarians beware though: there's not much in the way of tofu treats here. There are some sneaky salad options but shhh, don't tell the meat lovers. You can quietly gulp down your lettuce leaves while they make their way to the bar. The restaurant is conveniently located in the Canberra Centre, so it's a great spot to grab a bite to eat before catching a film at the Dendy Cinema upstairs.

Not to be missed!
i had the great fortune to enjoy a birthday dinner at Kingsley's Canberra last Friday evening. The food was simply outstanding, the Wagyu rib-eye with a side rack of ribs being completely out of this world, the service was not only attentive and knowledgeable but friendly, and both the charming barman and the fabulously efficient manager on duty made our night out one of, if not THE best dining experience we've had in Canberra.

Poor Service
The steak here is excellent, the service is the worst I have ever had dining out. We were left without drinks during our meal, and had to call out to remind the waitress of the drinks we ordered earlier.
The side did not turn up with my meal, and again had to call out to the waitress to remind her of the order of which she did not seem to take kindly. The drinks and salad turned up after we had eaten so a waste of a glass of red when the steak to go with it has gone.
The waitress assigned to our table was extremely rude and insulting to my 14 year old daughter, reverting to sarcasim about not being fast enough to serve us. It was the worst evening we have had out as a family and I will never return. If only I had read the previous reviews which all point to extremely bad service.

Overpriced
The steaks are nice, but not amazing and certaintly not worth the price. The waiters were inattentive, rude and could not answer even the most basic questions about the menu. I would not recommend it.

Very Very Average
Visiting from Sydney and having eaten in 2 of the Kingsleys Restaurants in Sydney where the food and service are excellent, this was extremely disappointing. Service was exceedingly slow though the waitress was friendly and polite.
We are unable to recommend this restaurant.

A number of patrons chose to sit outside and when the door was constantly opened a blast of cold air came in. We were sitting mid-room we pitied those sitting near the door. Service was not what I expected from an expensive restaurant, very ordinary. Steaks were overly expensive, I ordered a crab carpetbag steak and it was a struggle to find the crab. Food was very tasty and it was cooked to perfection. Overall consensus from the group not to go again.

Extremely disappointing
We visited on a Tuesday night, so didn't really have any problems with the service, but the food is another story.

Our starters were the spring rolls and the crabcakes. Were expecting 4 spring rolls at almost $15, but instead there were only 2. Very bland - couldn't taste any meat. I think the salt shaker must have fallen in the crabcake mix, as that was all you could taste. The provided tartare sauce was needed to disguise the taste.

Mains of the rump steak were overcooked. I ordered mine medium/well, but it came out overcooked and tough. Nothing tender and juicy about it.

Oh, and you need to order the sides (salad or vegies) separately. We were informed by the waiter (after he'd already taken and put in our order!) that "The chef has just mentioned to me that you hadn't ordered sides. So what you're going to get is a big white plate with a little piece of meat".

The sides of mash potato - yuck. The side of beans however were nicely blanched and still had a crunch to them.

Very disappointing for a $140 meal. (Especially as a couple of days later we paid $20 (for both meals) for a counter meal at a pub, with beautiful tender chargrilled rump.

Kingley's Canberra
The charlotte crab starter was outstanding. The mains were also good. Unfortunately the wine took 20 minutes to arrive, the starters 40, the mains an hour and a half and the sides were forgotten.

Kingsley's Canberra
The wagyu striploin was simply to die for - a melt in your mouth, buttery concoction that at $55 a throw is probably a once in a lifetime experience for most.

Our starters of salt and pepper squid and Louisiana crabcakes were excellent. The other mains varied (petite surf and turf arrived cold, but chef's pie and wagyu burger well well enjoyed).

But Kingsley, please do something about the service. We felt like we were being rushed out the door.
