The briny scent of the harbour at Woolloomooloo's Finger Wharf mingles tantalisingly with the subtle fragrance of aged beef - like an aromatic surf and turf, luring unwary wanderers. As advertised, the restaurant (owned by Kingsley Smith) specialises in steak and crabs, and diners will be hard-pressed to find anything on the menu that does not include these two ingredients - not that most would want to. The dishes are as simply expressed as the name, with no complicated experimental ingredients or fusion cuisine. However, the apparently basic menu is deceptive; these people are very serious about their meat. There's a dizzying array of cuts from grain and grass-fed sources in New South Wales and Queensland, as well as snow, mud and blue swimmer crabs. The difficult decision of surf versus turf might be resolved by ordering one of the reef and beef plates.

Eagle St Pier
A group of 4 of us went for dinner here tonight. My large age rump was perfectly rare as was my partner's petite fillet with king prawns however her only complaint was the fact that it only came with 2 prawns which they initially forgot so they arrived later on a sideplate. The service was a bit dire but the food did make up for this imperfection. The views of the Brisbane river/Story Bridge are also spectacular.
