Inside this neat and clean Indian cafe, the spice-rich aromas from chef/owner Ashok Choudry's delicious and astonishingly cheap curries perfume the air. Claiming to be the first Hatti in Australia, the dishes here reflect a country style typical of Choudry's native North India (using water as a base rather than oil and cream) that results in his curries being less heavy than those found on the rest of the subcontinent.
The sparse Indian decor plays home to scores of locals, students and those in the know every night of the week. They combine with the super fast, attentive service to create a very busy, lively and somewhat noisy atmosphere amplified by the hard stone-coloured floors, laminex tables and walls adorned with Indian paintings. If you are looking for a romantic dinner for two - Kake Di Hatti is not the place.
Try the summer-perfect, hot/sour flavours of the Goa Prawns or the more-ish Country Captain - a royal dish of northern India featuring lamb, potato and capsicum steeped in warmly spiced gravy. Although only a very basic wine list (five options) is on offer, it doesn't really matter when the bar is very well stocked with ice-cold $5 Kingfisher beer, perhaps the perfect accompaniment to the delectable curries.

Great value!
Have been here regularly since first discovering about a year ago - every time has been great! Excellent value, delicious food with a good variety of meat and vegie dishes. Service very efficient, atmosphere very local, loud and buzzing - overall a perfect dining experience!

I like it.
Have been to this place a few times to eat in. Cheap, it's byo, polite staff, the decor is nothing fancy but the atmosphere is pleasant, not too loud, so a good place to catch up with friends over a meal. You'll leave feeling full and satisfied.

Highly recommended
My husband and I have always enjoyed dinners out at Kake Di Hatti. The food is extremely good value for money, of great quality and variety. As a vegetarian, I'm always pleased to have a full page of main meal options, yet it's a great place for non-vegetarians too with a many lamb, beef and chicken options.
Service is usually very good, although on a busy night you may need to remind the staff of any drinks requests. The restaurant is very popular and sometimes there can be a small wait until you get a seat, however there seems to be just enough space between tables that you don't feel too hedged in.
