One of the most endearing features of this cosy laneway cafe is the menus glued into second-hand Little Golden Books - quirky, thoughtful and oh-so-Melbourne. The New York-style bagels are the main attraction here, from toasted brekky favourites such as the poached egg bagel with bacon and mayonnaise to lunchtime delights such as the kransky, borek and salmon options.
If you're sweetness-inclined, the moist and flavoursome friands are excellent; the flavours change daily and include combinations such as banana and strawberry or strawberry, balsamic vinegar and mint. Coffee also takes pride of place here, with a number of alternatives to the smooth house blend available for coffee connoisseurs, such as the Spanish Bon Bon and the Vietnamese Saigon.
