New favourite restaurant
My husband and I went here for dinner as I'd never been.
Upon entering I was very impressed with the atmosphere and the overall layout of the restaurant.
We both had a three-course meal - entrees of pork belly and seafood vol-au-vant were superb! Absolutely loved both and could not recommend them enough.
Mains were good, not as impressive as the entrees though. I had the chicken but not a fan of chilli which was actually in the potato mash but husband's tiger prawn gnocchi was beautiful! I had looked on the website before hand and I was leaning towards the lamb or barramundi, but neither were on the menu when I arrived which was disappointing.
Desserts were beautiful. I had the creme brulee which was outstanding and hubby had profiteroles.
All in all was very happy and Joseph Alexander's is my new favourite restaurant! Will be back again and again.

Fabulous for a work function when you want to impress
I dined at Joseph Alexanders on a Tuesday night and was amazed at the number of people enjoying themselves - the place was packed! This is the first sign of a good restaurant and the second was the quickness in which a drink waitress asked me for my beverage of choice. I was 1 of 20 people in the gorgeous Dome Room and we had the set menu. My choices of calamari and beef were fabulous - the calamari so tender that I had to keep reminding myself of what Iwas eating; the beef perfectly cooked to medium rare with the richest red wine jus. I didn't get to try my dessert, because by 10.15pm I was needing to go home. A shame, because I heard that the creme brulee was to die for.

Rates up there with the best of Brisbane
I've been wanting to try Joseph Alexander's for ages and on Saturday I had the thrill of being able to sample their menu. Organising a group of 10 for dinner can be a drama when you know some attendees are going to requiring spcial food. The staff just didn't let it faze them and nothing was too much trouble. The wine list was excellent and whilst it was not cheap, we were all delighted with the range on offer.

The gnochhi, calamari, duck, beef fillet and lamb shank were all choices that hit the spot and kept us wishing we could have just a little more. Surely that is a sign of a good restaurant.

The desserts were simple with riots of flavour. The creme brulee got my vote hands down!

Total cost including wine, bread, entree, mains and dessert came to around $100 per person.

We'll be back - have no doubt about that.

Great ambience, great place, lacking In value for money
We have eaten at J.A.'s before for our wedding anniversary last October 2006 for dinner and really enjoyed the mains with desserts to die for. You could sample each dessert on the menu in 10 little bowls which came out on a platter for two people to share.

We loved the food and restaurant so much we recommended this place to everyone. So two of our friends went to try the dinner one night in March 2007 and didn't think much of it at all. Feeling disheartened our sister's 50th birthday came up on 28th of March '07 so we took her and her husband some where extra special for her birthday and booked a high tea. The high tea came out and started first with savouries which you paid extra for which is no problem, but the savouries were very disappointing and not worth paying the extra for. Then the club sandwiches were fine as were the scones with cream and jam but the mini cakes were not value for money in any way and they were of poor quality. Our brother-in-law orderd a Rockhampton steak off the lunch menu which was nowhere near value for money with no side dishes included or any veges on the plate, only some seared onions and 9 fried chips which were bridged or placed criss-crossed on top of each other. I am sorry to say I will not be recommending our favourite restaurant to anyone unless people just want to somewhere nice with class to have a few drinks.
