You'd be hard-pressed to find a Newtown local, whether hungover or just plain hungry, who hasn't yet succumbed to the temptation of devouring one of Janet's Pies (or at least thought about doing so). "Made for Newtown", as its logo reads, Janet's Pies is a cosy enclave akin to your best mate's (clean) living room, replete with a cosy lounge, local newspapers, and surrounding small tables for your quick coffee and bite.
All of the pies are baked fresh every day at Janet's, ranging from traditional steak pies to curry pies to the popular vegan Thai broccoli and potato pies. In fact, there's a separate menu just for vegans, containing the signature homemade chips, the house apple pie, and soy-based coffees. And last but not least, for early and late risers alike, Janet's does brekkie goods like jaffles, quiches and spinach and fetta pies.
