Bringing the right stuff to Wright Street, this funky contemporary bistro lets diners peek into the kitchen to watch the chefs concoct Mediterranean magic. Since bursting onto the city dining scene in early 2009, Jam the Bistro has already become a favourite for pick-me-up breakfast starts, sunny lunches under outdoor umbrellas and intimate dinners from Thursdays to Saturdays each week. This could be due to its surprising menu of modern meals, including the veal meatball puttanesca, chargrilled quail and roo moussaka (yes, that's a kangaroo in a casserole). Pastas, salads and porterhouse steaks are some of the more conventional items also cooked up on site. Diners can grab takeaway nibbles too, though it might be best to sink into a cosy designer chair inside while sipping a latte or glass of red.

Great place
Set out looking for a place for breakfast. Not many places are open so early but spotted Jam with a few people inside so decided to give it a go.
Went inside and was instantly greeted with a 'good morning' and a friendly smile. Waitress asked me if I wanted to order a coffee whilst I browsed the breakfast menu, so I ordered myself a mocha.
There's a decent amount of items to choose from at decent prices.
Coffee was at my table in no time and I had decided to treat myself with the pancakes and berries.
The pancakes arrived at my table and they looked magnificent! Decent sized serving of pancakes in a stack with berries on top and some syrup drizzled around. The taste was just as beautiful.
Asked the waitress if I could take a look at their dinner menu. Quite a selection of fine foods!
Will be back here in the very near future for breakfasts and dinner!
One thing to mention, not a very big place, so I reckon it'd be advisable to make a booking if you're intending for dinner

a great event at jam, well worth the visit
Look Jam is a little more expensive than others in the area and parking is a problem. So why do i recommend it and why would i like to eat there most nights of the week ? - fresh , fresh and more fresh. If you are into fresh food with flavor then Jam is for you .The meals are seasonal with fresh flavours and low fat .If i could afford it i would eat there most days of the week .Every meal i have had there is a great sensation with wholesome fresh healthy ingredients. Great wine list and supportive staff who know what they are into . Best of all if you do not like what is on the menu they will craft something for you so long as they have the ingredients in stock -in short try you will not be disappointed -peter farnsworth
