You certainly won't be jam-packed into this spacious cafe/provedore on Hobart's beautiful waterfront. Housed in the historic Henry Jones IXL building, Jam Packed takes its name from the building's history as a former jam factory. It's also one of Hobart's oldest taverns, so the decor is rustic, cosy and provincial, surrounded by sandstone walls and rendered concrete floors, and bounding with shelves of homemade products, Tasmanian wines and more than few fruity conserves. Outdoor diners can enjoy excellent water vistas while downing a Tassie wine or beer from Jam Packed's range of beverages.
There's many a breakfast and lunch item to be savoured at JP too, with a mod-Oz menu featuring local produce and international influences. Gluten-free breads allow celiacs to jump for joy into the jam at brekkie time, while the JP tasting platter is a keen lunch favourite, placing local meats, cheeses and seafood together for singular or sharing pleasure.

Delicious!
Set inside the no longer operating IXL factory, this place is great for an afternoon coffee and a slice of cake.
There are plenty of jams, honey and other fine local produce for sale. The ice cream at the cafe is delicious and they also offer flourless cakes for those who are gluten intolerant.
This cafe has become one of favourite venues to visit when I'm in the area. I highly recommend it.
