Jade Buddha

For an exotic taste of the Far East, Jade Buddha doesn't disappoint. Sitting, or perhaps meditating on Eagle Street Pier, it overlooks the Brisbane River, offering up water views and oriental surroundings that beg to be explored. The venue's layout, design and decoration all follow ancient Feng Shui principles and advice. Inside, it's filled with stunning pieces, sourced from all over Asia. Wander through and discover the Jade Buddha Lounge on the ground floor, which operates as both a bar and restaurant. The signature Buddha Bliss cocktail mixes together Grand Marnier and yellow Chartreuse with ginger, mint, lime and sweet, cloudy apple juice, while the pan-Asian menu offers plenty of seafood, noodles and sushi. The Jade Lounge features water views, stained bamboo ceilings, and even a cross-legged golden Buddha statue, offering guests a three-fingered salute. Venture upstairs and you'll discover the Shadow Lounge - a sophisticated cocktail bar that attracts the late night crowds. There's a dome-shaped ceiling and even more views of the river and Storey Bridge. Parties are also catered for in the separate Bamboo Room space, which operates as a function area, with private access.

great night out with the girls
my girlfriends and I chose Jade Buddha for after work drinks and we're glad we did!
tha cocktails are amazing! it is very popular for after work drinks it seemed but the bartenders were all really friendly.
we didnt have a dinner booking but the maitre'd was more than happy to find us a table.
We had such a fun night and the food was perfect. we would recommend this place to anyone, it has such a nice ambience and well worth a look.

how disapointing!
what a terrible choice! on being rather hesatantly seated we placed...it seemed such a chore for the waiter to help us... under the leaking canopy, and after mention of the fact that the area also smelt rather "OFF" amd the request of a candle to mask to odor was a no show...we did choose to stay due to fact i was dinning with older family members whom it is had to just shuffle off to another venue. the meals where extremly high priced for very average food! its a shame as they are in a good position with great views but cleaning, maintenance and service of high quality food not a strong feature!

Impeccable service!
We dined at Jade Buddha today for lunch and experienced a real treat. All of our group who dined today come from a hospitality background so we know what to expect.

The service at Jade Buddha was of a very high standard and easily outshone any of its surrounding riverside venues. I have dined in restaurants all over Australia and the world and I have to say that Jade Buddha is up there with the best in terms of service and ambience.

The waiters and bar staff were friendly, helpful, competent, efficient and impressive. Nothing we asked was too much trouble for them. Ten out of ten, can't wait to come back on the weekend for dinner, followed by cocktails upstairs in "Shadow Lounge" (Jade Buddha's night life!).

I think I'm going to make this my second home
I came in for dinner with five of my friends and had the early bird special. Great price, Great value, we got to go on a two course set menu for just $25, that crazy considering the mains on their own are normally more than that. The only catch was you had to be in by 5.30pm and out by 7, but who cares, we finished by 6.30 and got to enjoy the last half hour of happy hr. I didn't want to leave, can't wait to get back there

Wine and dine
I dined in at Jade Buddha with a few friends for a catch up dinner before a night out on the town. It was refreshingly pleasant to receive attentive and outstanding service from all staff involved on the night. The Balinese lamb and the Peking duck pancakes were absolutely superb, after dinner we headed up stairs to the Shadow Lounge for delicious cocktails, and a dance.
Over all Jade Buddha has won us all over with the million dollar view, restaurant and dance floor it really does cater to all sorts, I will definitely be making regular visits to this hot spot.

Great Staff
My girlfriends and I regularly catch up for lunch once every few months and today we tried Jade Juddha. The views are fantastic and although we knew it was casual dinning we were extremely surprised by the great friendly service we recieved/ To be honest for what is really an up market pub we got the kind of service you really only see in a much more expensive restaurant!

All our meals were good and seemed like real value considering the portion sizes and we got thier friday special of a $10 Chocolate Buddha desert which was devine, but maybe a bit unkind on our waist lines!

So thumbs up from me and the girls

Very Impressed
I celebrated a friends Birthday at Jade Buddha and was very impressed by the service and food.
Food was awesome and everyone was raving about it! I had the Butter Chicken, best one I have ever had. Views were outstanding. I was glad that I chose this place for my friends surprise party.
I will definitely be coming back for my birthday.

Very disappointed
Attended JB with a group of 20. Service was fair. Main meal quality was extremely poor. The steak was medium but cold to lukewarm when served. The pieces of roast potato were cold, soggy and soft. Advised the head waiter, all he could offer was to reheat the food. Atmosphere was a bit noisy, view of the Brisbane river was good. Asked the head waiter whether he had checked JB on the internet reviews - he answered no! A few months ago, my friend attended a company function at JB, her opinion was the same. JB was also advised about the cold steaks. It is obvious JB made no improvements to the meal presentations.

No!
Looks great! Dine by the river with a backdrop of city lights! But alas the food is lousey! Learn from our mistake - Avoid this one! In particular - avoid the Kamatsu Chicken! A couple of bits of dried out chicken barely a hint of the so-called "kamatsu" sauce and a castle of lifeless steamed rice. A steak ordered to be "medium" was served up well "burned and dried up"
We were kicking ourselves we would have been happier with take away and it would been mega bucks cheaper!

Set Menus are the way to go
We had a medium sized group (around 15 people) so we opted for the set menus. This proved to be much much quicker then the standard ordering time and we had one wait person all night, he just stuck to us which was great.
The food was awesome and not at all small in portion size and the view and atmosphere were very worth it.
Overall a good night was had.

Disappointed!
The location is beautiful and the atmosphere quite good. However, the service is disgraceful. We were ignored by wait staff when we first arrived. When the waitress finally came to take our order, she tuned out half way through and was more interested in what was happening on the other side of the restaurant which was strange. My friend and I ordered the pad Thai... it was extremely lacklustre and not at all worth the money. Our friend's meal arrived ten minutes later after we prompted the wait staff. We were told they had forgotten to bring it out with the other dishes. It arrived cold. When it came time to pay, we had to go up to the counter to get our bill and after being asked if we would like to split the bill, were told that we had to pay all together.

Overall it was a very disapointing evening. I would be interested in trying the upstairs bar, and the location is perfect for a function, but I definitely would not recommend the restaurant if you are after good service and value for money food.

As a positive, the virgi-politan was delicious!

Good for boozing, not so much for dining
I think this place is great for a nightclub/drinking spot but as a restaurant it tries to be a bit classier than it is. The price is a bit steep for Asian food and the quality isn't that great. Don't get me wrong, it's not awful, but they are charging too much for food that is not good restaurant quality

Loved it!
The girls and I visited Jade Buddha last night and were impressed with the speed of the service and how cute the waiters were!! My salmon was cooked perfectly, and everyone else raved about their meals. Food was reasonably priced, drinks a little expensive, but for the location well worth it. Bartenders whippped up an awesome cocktail which was enjoyed taking in the views.

Not the best
Not overly impressed with the Pad Thai, which was far too sweet and had too much tamarind sauce in it. Previous visits have left me nonplussed with the tasteless and very Australianised laksa. The service was ok though, but nothing to write home about. There will need to be a good incentive to get me to go back there again, like someone else's credit card.

Little loud and not-so-great service - great food though
Large group booking so we went with the set menu. Good choice of food and large servings served in good time. Very poor service at bar and in general though - no smiles to be seen. Drinks are pricey. The DJ was already blaring music at 6pm on Thursday which made it a little hard for a large group to communicate. Great location and great price for set menu.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!!
What a night! Visited Jade Buddha for a friends 21st birthday dinner. Could not have asked for more, best view in Brisbane, service was faultless, food was delicious, so much so we tipped our waiter $20.00. Will definitely be returning, only this time we're bringing more friends!

Avoid this one
Bad service -- nearly two hours to deliver main meals and drinks took over 30 minutes.

Limited menu, better value for money elsewhere.

Give this one a miss.

We went as a group of 30-35 year olds on a Saturday night. NOT a good idea as it turns out. The place is full of drunk idiots and loud music, the lineup outside for the nightclub does not allow priority access for diners, and the hero bouncers were rude and arrogant when asked why we had to wait at 7.30 (when there was plenty of room inside). The food is OK and perhaps this would be a better lunch place than dinner.
