The Age Good Food Guide's 2010 Restaurant of the Year, three Chef's Hats and many Service Excellence Awards: This is, if not the premier, certainly one of the finest dining destinations in Australia.
Set in a grand Victorian mansion and serving award-winning food, Jacques Reymond's restaurant is ideal for impressing someone, be it a lover, business colleague or parent-in-law. The degustation menu (also available in vegetarian) is recommended. The food may be described as mod-Oz with a French influence, and critics worldwide recognise the efforts of this kitchen. The wines available are excellent, and the well-informed staff help patrons with appropriate choices.

Interesting Experience
Disappointed with the Degustation menu. Dish size is far too small. The food is good but not excellent. The menu should be changed to no more than five course instead of eight. $165 per person is far too expensive considering the value of food served is probably no more than #20. Rating for 'Value for Money' - one star only.

Still the best fine dining in Melbourne
It's been a while since I last went to Jacques but having been several times previously I've always had an excellent meal there. To me it remains the best fine dining experience in Melbourne. Compared to the other highly regarded fine dining restaurant, Vue de Monde, I think Jacques has a nicer, more mellow atmosphere, better service, and avoids the unnecessary theatrics I've found at Vue. The food is divine, and perhaps best of all, Jacques is wonderfully consistent - I get the same great experience every time I go and would highly recommend it to anyone for a special night out.

Reymond, you're a star
The degustation menu was fantastic. The service and the explanations of the food was a real nice touch. Finally waiters who understand what they're serving. It's nice to see a connection between the kitchen and the floor staff. We had the degustation with wine, and I must say each of the wines chosen, truly matched each of the meals. For me, that experience was one of impeccable taste and knowledge of wine and food. My favourite dish of the evening was the serve of raclette. Finally a French restuarant realising the French region of Switzerland and the amazing foods that come out of it. Well done!

Excellent in every way
The amazing service started as soon as we stepped through the door, it was like arriving at a friend's house. We had the degustation menu and the food was absolutely amazing! Each course was a nice surprise. The waiters were knowledgable and explained the ingredients in each dish. As we had a young baby with us, they were very understanding and speed up each course for us so that the whole seven courses were finished in roughly two hours. If I have the money, I'd definitely like to go back again.

Absolutely Divine
Firstly I have to comment on the service: it was the best service I have ever had - the waiters were perfect. The atmosphere was lovely, room temperature was perfect, decor was delightful. The food: my partner and I both had the autumn degustation (one vegetarian and one meat) and everything was lovely, particularly the black truffle mushroom cappucino soup - yum! Will definitely be going every season.

Best experience in 2006
Had a fantastic night. Am really happy that they picked up the third hat. Great modern/fusion food (many places border on 'tacky fusion'). The two meat dishes were cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was fantastic: table space must be one of the most generous in Melbourne, the rooms are nicely updated. It’s great for winter dining. The service was a little let down by some of the junior staff, a bit careless and carrying a bit of attitude. Felt our glasses were topped up constantly too to finish the bottle ASAP. But overall, we've had what fine dining's food is all about.
