Widely regarded as a Hobart institution, this bakery/cafe draws crowds to picturesque Battery Point, with queues often forming outside. The reason behind the genteel hysteria is its freshly baked, largely organic breads and pastries, and ambrosial lunches. The range of rustic fare changes daily according to seasonal availability and the chef's inspiration. Most are displayed in the cabinet to lead customers, albeit willingly, into temptation.
Options might include the popular goat's cheese tart, with goat's cheese, basil, sundried tomatoes and caramelised onions, or perhaps a panini of scrambled eggs, bacon and tomato. If you can't get a table - and the competition is fierce - you can get everything to take away.
