Open just three nights a week, this little hawker-style, hole-in-the-wall eatery in Concord does a roaring trade in its traditional Malaysian cuisine, created by chef Jackie Shonquist. Spicy and rich, the food here packs a punch and displays Malaysia's huge range of flavours and textures, from dishes like the otak-otak grilled fishcakes wrapped in banana leaf, to the roti canai and the creamy lamb curry. Last but certainly not least, you should not miss the chance to try some Malay desserts, such as the star attraction, the ais campur, a brilliant concoction of red beans, corn, grass jelly, rose syrup and sweetened milk over shaved ice.
Other sweet indulgences include the banana roti with condensed milk, and roti kaya, filled with pandan and coconut jam, or for a true taste of Malaysia, go for a durian smoothie - but be warned, the durian is a seriously pungent-smelling and tasting fruit that is not for the faint-hearted. The smoothie will knock your socks off.
