Italian Village

Located at the picturesque Rocks end of Circular Quay, this restaurant is understandably proud of its view. Through the windows or from the breezy alfresco tables, diners can see across the harbour waters to the Sydney Opera House and watch the ferries plodding past. The outside of the building is becomingly clad in stone, while the inside is lined in brick, evoking the kind of Italian village atmosphere that the restaurant's name promises. Continuing on the Italian theme, the menu is dominated by pastas and Italian-style mains, with a few creative concoctions among the classics.

Nice Location, but Nothing Special
Although this restaurant is set in a stunning location, amidst old Sydney sandtone architecture and an unobstructed view of the Opera House across the harbou, it confirms most of my experiences dining in Circular Quay West: average.
Prices are certainly aimed at tourists - any Sydney diner worth their Murray River Salt knows where to go along the harbour for a treat in both views AND cusine.
Food wise, it's nicely presented though I found my trout pasta fairly plain, a little heavy and I missed the fresh pasta which is making such a big appearence in restaurants at the moment.
With so much choice on the Sydney dining scene, I won't be revisting my unimaginative pasta dish anytime soon.
