These guys take coffee really seriously. Under the shop is a basement roaster where the green beans are slow-cooked, so you won't get fresher coffee anywhere. For the record, they'd grow their own beans if not for the Tassie climate. And if you believe presentation is important, the coffees display a host of artistic creations formed in the slowly poured froth.
Grab a table in any one of the private nooks dotted throughout the building - one of Hobart's oldest commercial spaces - and check out the cafe-style menu. The Island nachos with creamy chilli dressing and sweet lemon myrtle is a good lunch snack, while the heartier menu includes vegetarian options such as the Tassie Tiger baked potato, topped with brie, red capsicum, sour cream and sundried tomatoes. But you'd be mad to leave without a coffee.
