Great idea, needs a little more
I love the idea of native ingredients used in an everyday menu. The menu, set-up and decor are all very inducive of a well thought out cafe.
I've been here three times and mostly enjoyed my meals with my partner here, but the odd hiccup keeps taking the shine of the experience.
I do hope they iron out these bumps, as they otherwise deserve to be known for their quality, friendlyness & original tastes.

Birthday Lunch
I took my sister to this restaurant for lunch. This was our first time at the Ironbark and we were very impressed.

When we arrived we ordered a bottle of wine but the waitress advised that they were not licensed and we went and bought a bottle from a nearby bottle shop.

I ordered Barramundi which was served with chips and a beautiful salad. The fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were really good. My sister had a salad with Kangaroo and she also was very impressed.

We finished off with dessert which was also very nice and will definitely be returning with my husband!

Disappointing
I was really excited about this place, thinking that I could bring overseas visitors here for a uniquely Australian meal, however I was very disappointed. The service was terrible: our drinks never arrived despite reminding them of our order and the meals were slow too. The food was average, except for the lemon myrtle cheesecake which was delicious. This place is a novelty and I won't be going back. I'd only recommend it for coffee and cake.

Exotic and friendly
My partner and I had a great dinner here. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was delicious and fresh! Some of the best seafood I have had in Canberra. The flavours were exotic and tantalizing. The wattleseed pavlova was fantastic! A great place to go for a quieter, talking atmosphere, and fantastic for taking overseas friends. Look forward to going there again soon.
