As the mural on the back wall of the dining room explains, Ink Bar and Restaurant is named after squid ink - that's right, the black liquid that scared mollusks shoot at their would-be predators. Not surprisingly, it's a seafood restaurant - but the airy elegance and unique blend of modern and traditional dishes leaves diners with no reason to be afraid. From chargrilled Morton Bay bugs with chilli-infused plum sauce to crispy-skinned barramundi fillet with aioli, mussel fritters and creamed leek, this is definitely a destination for indulgent fine dining.
This renovated corner pub, which has maintained a full bar service, features a spacious main dining room with abundant natural light where fresh seafood degustation platters can be shared. Some of the seafood options on the extensive a la carte menu include oven-baked scallops with creamed mushrooms and panko breadcrumbs and mussels steamed with lemongrass, chilli & saffron broth. Lush modern artwork, stark white settings and champagne basking on ice perfect the restaurant's upbeat and upper-crust vibe. However, vegetarians beware - this is unapologetically a seafood venture, with the only meat-free menu option being the (nevertheless tempting) lemon-scented potato gnocchi with broad beans, beetroot and parmesan oil - and, of course, the scrumptious desserts.
