A great meal
I booked ahead for lunch, and then found this site. I was initially dismayed by the reviews here, but on seeing how old the last review was, decided to keep my booking anyway. I was very glad I did.
Service was perfect, our places had been set before we arrived complete with menu, the staff were very friendly. We ordered a entree platter for 2, a vidaloo, and we knew we wanted a dahl but had no idea which one to order, so I asked the waiter to suggest one, his choice was delicious. Our food was quick to arrive after ordering, and every time I lloked toward the counter our waiter came to see if we would like anything. I can't fault the service at all.

The menu is large and allows you to design your own dishes if you wish but with plenty of ready made suggestions as well. Many of the dishes on offer were not the standard items found on every indian menu which was refreshing. The food was served with a good selection of pickles and chutneys and our entree came with a lovely tamarind dipping sauce. The rieeta (excuse my spelling, I mean the yogurt and cucumber condement) was very fresh and chunky, much better than the version I make at home.

The atmospher was very good, with indian music playing at just the right level to be pleasant but not loud enough to disturb your conversation and the restaurant is furnished with old fashioned heavy timber chairs which were both atractive and comfortable.

I would recomend this restaurant to anyone, ignore the out of date reviews below.

What Happened?
My girlfriend and i have been going to Indus for the past couple of years, and in the last 12 months have seen a dramatic fall in quality. The poor service in the past has always been made up for with the food, but now the chicken is chewy and the curries uninspired. The price has gone up but the presentation gone down.

Although i have never liked the place because of the rudeness upon arrival (yes i have long hair, but i also have money), my girlfriend has always loved it, yet now both of us have completely axed it from our list. What a shame!

Indus Service
I have been to Indus several times since I discovered the restaurant only a couple of months ago.
The food is great. I would say its the best Indian food I have tasted, certainly in Brisbane.

Unfortunately the service has been pretty awful. The service has been rude at times and once my partner I were left in the far corner of the restaurant and ignored. We had to go up to the counter and ask for service everytime we wanted service. The service staff lack knowledge of the menu, probably because they are non-Indian. They seem to be under-staffed at times.

I would not recommend my friends to go to this restaurant for dinner. However, I would recommend getting takeaway from here.

MYO curry
Definitely one of the most interesting Indian restaurants I've been to. Good food, stylish modern decor, friendly staff - but definitely their best feature is the 'design your own curry' menu. This lets you choose between ten or so styles (from traditionals such as tandoori to more unusual flavours) with any ingredient-base you like (including four vegetarian - vegies, chickpea, tofu and paneer). This allows you to try dishes you don't normally see - like buttered tofu, or seafood vindaloo. Definitely a tasty place to go if you're looking for a meal with a difference.

Best curry in Brisbane?
Just refurbished and extended, the Indus sets a consistently high standard. Free papadams greet one. Starters mix the normal and the interesting - prawn pakoras being succulent and the chicken tikka having just the right amount of burntness. Three different mains and three different colours and flavours. Rice (and dessert) included in the price. Thankfully they have stopped the salad, leaving more space for the main event. Breads are very well done. A few dollars more than the competition but well worth the difference. Parking at the top of Paddington is not always easy and service may seem a bit slow at times. Worth adding to your favorites - we will be returning.
