After a stellar makeover in 2009, Indiana Cottesloe Beach has transformed into a bright modern beach house just made for its beautiful beachside locale. Every table grants sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and sunsets past Rottnest Island, providing a supremely relaxing setting for a coffee, glass of wine or tasty bistro meal. The diverse all-day menu covers a plethora of foods including charcuterie plates, woodfired pizzas, wagyu burgers, fresh pastas, and of course, a huge assortment of brekkie goodies to enjoy on the super-sunny balcony.

Enjoyable - except for our welcome (or lack of)
Upon entering the restaurant and approaching the cashier we were asked if we were there for lunch, which we were. We were then told that lunch had finished (at 1.15pm in the afternoon on a Saturday). We looked at each other in astonishment, completely caught by surprise, and we were then advised that IF we were out by 3pm and ONLY wanted a small lunch, then perhaps a table for two could be arranged. That suited us perfectly! We waited 10 minutes and were given a lovely table for two by the window. We selected from the limited but adequate wines by the glass list, and ordered oysters kilpatrick to start, along with a margherita pizza and prawn fettucini. The meals were most enjoyable - not the best we've ever had, but it was clear that quality ingredients had been used and they were all tasty. Unfortunately they were a little slow coming out but we were able to enjoy the view while we waited. Apart from our brusque greeting, the other waitstaff who served us were friendly and helpful. Two other tables came in for lunch after us - it looks like we just happened to be greeted by someone having a bad day.

Disappointing Experience
It's amazing the difference good service can make to a meal, unfortunately on this occasion it was nowhere to be found. Endless wait for bar service to the table from the start and the restaurant wasn't that busy. As I was entertaining a business colleague and his wife I found myself doing the job of maitre d' in trying to keep our server at least partially focussed on our table; I failed miserably.
The food was the redeeming factor up to its usual high quality and standard, but management desperately need to get the bar service and table management sorted out as I found myself apologising for it on their behalf. It was like amateur night...
Overall a disappointing experience as it is one of our favorite places to eat!!

Presentation is key
Indiana is an iconic location - unfortunately the food didn't live up to the view.
Two of our party ordered the steak with chips and bearnaise. Chips dominated over the plate and the bernaise looked like it had spent too long under the heat lamps waiting for the rest of the meal to be finished. Fish and chips - nicely presented in a wooden box.... but just a 'wrapped in paper' style of fish and chips. I ordered the duck and it was not what I had expected at all and I was quite disappointed with the soggy cabbage and noodle concoction.
On thinking about it later I felt that all meals would have been greatly improved if they had been simplified a little and served more creatively. Put the bearnaise in a bowl on the side rather than letting it appear congealed on the meat. Separate the elements of the duck noodle dish and present on a long platter. Everything seemed to be a little 'flat' on the night.
Service was attentive and obliging, though some things were lost with the language barrier.
It is a great venue and I truly hope we had a Sunday night / the chef called in sick / I can't be bothered sort of experience. It wasn't bad - it was just mediocre and I guess we were expecting greatness.

An essential Perth experience
You have got to see this place to believe it - so magnificent, there's nowhere like it in Perth, or even Australia for that matter!
It is directly on Cottesloe beach and it feels like you could jump into the water from your table. I asked the manager about the decor and she said the previous owners collected it over the years (new owners have only JUST taken over) and the whole place has been refurbed as of 2008. It's owned by the same people that do Fraser's in Kings Park, so I thought it must be good - and I was right. Great menu, with some good food for the kids. I had a salad, fresh seafood and leaves, superb. My hubby had a share plate - to himself. Service was good - but come for the breathtaking views of Cott, and the excelent food. Would recommnd to anyone, especially tourists - this is what Perth is all about!!! Glad they're finally getting it right.

Mmm not bad but room for improvement
This is the third time I have been to the Indiana Cottesloe for a meal and although the scenery was beautiful, and the restaurant was spectacular (I love the decorative toilets, you got to see it) I was disappointed again with the food. Im not a food conniaseur (I cant even spell it ha ha) obviously but I had the duck leg that was tough and fatty. I thought that I was the only one unhappy with my meal but my partner was not overly fussed on his meal either. The waiters were not as attentive as I would of liked and had to stop a waiter passing by to ask for a second glass of wine. I come to the same conculsion the third time around: the food is over priced and not that flash. Well presented though.

Food with a view!
Having lunch there was an absolute pleasure - the views were spectacular! The service was great. They were polite, friendly and extremely attentive - my water glass was never half-empty! The food was beautifully presented and tasted great but I must admit the serving sizes were on the small side.

Birthday for my favourite girls
Enjoyed the entire experience from being seated at a table with a view of Cottesloe Beach through to the excellent table service which was attentative and discreet. The main meals were well presented with my dish of the beef cheeks well received. Other dinners had the tiger prawns which were raved about. The cheese board and dessert complimented the meal and left us quite content. Definitely worth a return visit.
