Imperial Peking Harbourside

Set in a heritage-listed 1820 sandstone building on Sydney Harbour, Imperial Peking Harbourside offers sweeping views of the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and the harbour that only few could resist. This well-known oriental restaurant is premised on the idea of fusion: fusion of exotic decor and a colonial setting, with golden Buddhas, grandiose pillars and red lanterns filling the grand historical building; and fusion of Australian produce with traditional Pekinese recipes.

Tailored to suit contemporary tastes, the menu features a comprehensive range of seafood, including oysters, king prawns, scallops, lobsters, eels and seasonal fish. Other mains include Chinese-style kangaroo meat, beef fillet cubes in spicy sake sauce with wasabi, and bean curd with Chinese mushrooms and bamboo shoots in soy sauce. Dessert lovers can choose from the sweet (toffee banana) and the sweeter (lychee ice cream), before splurging on a bottle of sparkling, white or red.

Disappointing
Having been to the Imperial Peking before in the past, I was bitterly disappointed. The Peking Duck, which I went for was not to standard, the service was sloppy and the place had a tired, worn look about it as did the staff. Definitely would not go again.
