Friendly, fuss-free and causal, Il Pasto is the sort of place everyone wishes they had around the corner. With its red-and-white-checked tablecloths, a clean, uncluttered interior and tables spilling out onto Royal Street, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed - and certainly not too precious. The food is traditional, hearty and filling and stacks up well against many of Perth's pricier Italian eateries; a bucatini alla arrabiata (pasta with hot Italian cacciatore sausage, chilli and tomato) punches well above its weight. A popular spot to sit outside on hot nights and watch the world go by, this is a favoured local destination.
