The four walls of this little Northbridge restaurant tell the story of one of the greatest gastronomic success stories of all time. It is the story of Nunzio Nici, the best pizza maker in the world, as declared by the Pizza Association of Sicily. You don't need to pour over the myriad of signed photos, letters of appreciation, newspaper clippings and certificates proudly on display to fully appreciate Nunzio's culinary accomplishments. His Sicilian pizzas, wood-fired in an oven built by his own hands, speak for themselves. While Perth's own Suzanna Carr, as well as Pavarotti and Pope John Paul II have all sampled a slice, Il Padrino isn't just about pizza - although there are 20 varieties to choose from, together with Nunzio's famous wood-fired focaccia. There are also 12 tantalizing pasta dishes and an equally delectable range of traditional Italian mains.
