Causing a stir in Mascot is this relaxed, friendly Japanese joint serving up sushi, bento boxes and a selection of teriyaki and tempura mains to growing numbers of fans. The vibe is very family-friendly, with the staff more than happy to accommodate kids - though there's no children's menu, there are plenty of dishes the young 'uns will enjoy. The chicken bento box with tempura salad, sushi, sashimi and teriyaki chicken, is excellent value and comes highly recommended, while the soft-shell crab is listed as an appetiser but could easily satisfy a hearty lunchtime appetite. A good-value, bustling spot, Ichiro's is fast becoming a favourite with locals.
