Forget everything else at this rowdy Roscoe Street eatery and go for one of Sydney's best racks of pork ribs: they're tender, tangy, messy and addictive. Half a rack is enough for most mortals, but if you're ravenous, go the whole 'hog' (a whole rack) or choose one of the combos that also gives you steak or chicken. The lamb racks are also tasty, if not as moist as their piggy counterparts. Hurricane's is big, noisy and crowded, so book ahead if you don't want to wait, and ask for an outdoor table if you want serenity. If you haven't booked, the airy bar is a comfortable spot to socialise in while waiting for your turn at the tables.

Good stuff - just feed your pigs
Hi guys - I read all about peer reviews and it always helps when you're trying to find a good spot for ribs and someone gives an honest opinion. Everything was stellar except the ribs - cocktails were beaut, and the atmosphere was fun and funky. Only gripe was the ribs - $33 bucks for a full rack with some chips on the side was pretty poor. If they were big and meaty and you had trouble eating them all I'd understand but sitting there with a couple of American girls from Atlanta who have shared many rib meals with me back in the States they weren't impressed either. Having eaten some ribs up in Byron the week prior which were meaty, moist and hearty with a lot more muscle than bone I'd recommend heading north for some inspiration. Other than that keep up the good work!

We booked a table for 10 at 7.30pm to celebrate my 27-year-old son's birthday. When we arrived at 7.30 we were told we would have to wait for around 10 minutes – unapologetically, I might add. After 20 minutes of being forced to mostly stand at a crowded and unwelcoming bar - more excuses. Finally we were shown to our table by the owner 35 minutes after our booking. I asked whether if next time I booked for 7.00pm and turned up at 7.30pm would my table be waiting - probably not, he says, asking me at the same time whether I wanted a table or not - obviously referring to the multitude of waiting customers.
To continue the woeful service at least 10 dishes arrived at our table during the course of the meal, none of which was ordered, and finally they forgot my wife's meal altogether.
The food is excellent. Steaks, burgers, wedges, prawns, everything so no problems there.
