Hugos Manly

Pete Evans' latest perch offers a different - though just as appealing - people-watching experience as its inner-city sibling.

Hugos at Manly Wharf enables city diners to glide over on the ferry to lunch on the fabulous crusty nosh that fans are used to at Hugos Bar Pizza, ranging from the simple margherita made with fresh buffalo mozzarella, to the more complex combination of asparagus, goat's curd, walnut, garlic, egg, parmesan and truffle oil, and such favourites as the slow-roasted pork belly topped with sweet and sour onions and radicchio.

There's a comprehensive list of cocktails and wines to complement dishes that oscillate from filling to light; tagliatelle with a ragu of beef, porcini mushrooms, Chianti and parmesan will have those looking for a hearty meal delighting in their luck, while patrons preferring to indulge in the view rather than their appetite might opt for tomato, basil and fresh Italian buffalo mozzarella tossed with pappadelle pasta.

The interior is just as posh as other venues within the Hugos empire; Manly is given a decidedly nautical theme with lacquered timber floorboards and sexy leather banquettes which create an ambiance somewhere between art deco passenger terminal and members-only supper club.
