The heritage site of Hubbles Yard has seen a lot in its 100 or so years of existence. Starting as a family home, it saw several incarnations, including a corner store, bakery, even a depot for US troops after WWII. It now houses the homely heart of Hubbles, a healthy cafe. Fresh local ingredients are the name of the game here, with a menu chock-full of delights like tuna, basil and feta cakes; chicken and avocado roulade; spinach, feta and lamb suffra; and grilled vegetable and chickpea patties. Make room, too, for the quality desserts. The chocolate and ricotta cake and the orange, almond and cardamom cupcakes are well worth the visit of any palate.
