A mammoth operation opposite the Central Markets on Gouger Street, this 200-seater Malaysian restaurant is a newcomer to the Chinatown scene and is causing quite a stir. Its traditional nonya cuisine - a mix of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences - has many converted already, while curious passers-by stopping to watch the chef making traditional roti through the large front windows are surely lured in.
The nasi lemak (a rice dish served with small tastings of various Malay specialties) is a great lunch choice - and a bargain, too - while at dinner, the nonya chicken curry and those freshly made roti canai are excellent, as is the ubiquitous but exceptional beef rendang.
