Surviving in the dime-a-dozen world of Melbourne's small bars is no easy task. Differentiating your venue from the throng can sometimes prove difficult.
Houndstooth has managed this with little fuss. The minimalist refurb - mainly consisting of whitewash walls, painted concrete floor and some op shop details - manages to convey the right attitude without feeling sterile or formulaic.
The food on offer is seriously cheap and seriously tasty. Offerings stick right in the comfort zone of hearty pub grub. Keep this one in mind when you want a nice point of difference without breaking the budget.
