Decent pub grub
The Spencer has spent a bit of time trying to find its feet, but has landed on solid ground. After experimenting with two menus and fine dining, the kitchen has settled on an upmarket pub menu which rotates a few quirky dishes (often Asian inspired fusion) among higher end pub classics (pot pies, parmas etc). The prices have come down a little from those suggested here, settling in the $20-30 range. The serving sizes are decent and the food rarely misses a beat. There's normally a few decent microbrews on tap too.
Being a pub, it's bar service, but always friendly; perhaps a result of having a few backpacker rooms upstairs. The atmosphere can be hit and miss (particularly when there's football on at docklands or a gig a festival hall), but is mostly a homely feel.
