There comes a time in the day when you want to loosen your collars, kick up your heels and forget the stresses of the office, even if just for a half-hour here, or a leisurely long evening there. Enter Hotel Chambers, one of the city's cosiest spots located, rather incongruously, on the busy corner of Martin Place and Elizabeth Street.
Thankfully, the concrete jungle seems miles away once you're enveloped in the subterranean-style lounge setting, which aims for a smoky jazz club feel (there's even live swing dancing and jazz music every third Friday of the month). But, if you're just taking a work break or having after-work nosh, the bistro does a good job of covering all bases, from burgers to barramundi, and chicken parma to chargrilled rump steak. Work - what work?
