Hobson's Bay Hotel

Undergoing a reviving refurbishment in 2007, this historic hotel is now home to pub food with pizzazz. Old favourites such as veal parmagiana are given a fresh twist with rosemary breadcrumbs, roasted capsicum coulis and goats cheese. Influenced by international flavours, the menu also boasts the unexpected, such as the za'atar lamb cutlets with a smoked paprika and mint yoghurt on Bulgarian fetta and rocket. And with a delectable fig and ginger pudding with caramel sauce on offer, dessert is most definitely not forgotten.

Awesome!
My partner and i went for dinner the other night. The service was impeccable from when we arrived, and our waitress was attentive and friendly for the whole evening. I had the herb and parmesan crusted veal with rocket, roast capsicum and parmesan salad. The meal was excellently presented was tasted magnificent. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. Our dessert was also lovely, although extremely rich! The atmosphere really added to the experience. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area. It was one of the best dinner expereinces i have ever hed!

Classy Hotel Surprise
We dropped in without a booking for a quick dinner to celebrate our planned move into the area. We were welcomed and looked after in classy surrounds, with the attention of professionals, and a supurb meal. Definately a classy hotel! Thanks, we'll be back.

Best Food In the West
Wow we had an amazing dinner at this hotel. It would have to be the best steak I've ever eaten. I had the Sirloin Steak which was tender and cooked perfectly. We started with the taste plate which was perfect and we also shared some oysters which were fresh and had great flavour. My partner had the pork belly which hit the spot. The dessert was as good as the entree and main. The Mille Feuille and Chocolate Tart with poached rhubarb cream was AMAZING. Our waiter was experienced and extremely helpful with suggestions. We will be back, this will now be our local.

very accommodating
5 of us arrived for lunch with 3 babies in prams without a booking; when I asked the waitress if she could accommodate us, she promptly rearranged some tables to fit us in; the service was excellent and she turned the music down for us when asked without any issue. We all enjoyed our meals. 2 had the $13 lunch special, calamari salad which they said was beautiful and serving amount was reasonable for the price; 2 had the tapas platter and said it was great (one of whom is a very fussy eater) and I had the pumpkin and fetta risotto ($13 lunch special as well) which was very hearty and filling on a very cold winter's day; have also been for dinner and the food was very good - chicken breast on garlic potato mash with wine jus and baby spinach - best chicken dish I have ever had, except they have taken it off the menu. And also baby spinach, beetroot, walnut and fetta salad - very nice too. Have had better dessert elsewhere, but still nice.
