Serving up mouth-watering steaks and succulent game meats with all the exotic flavours and spices of South Africa, this Perth restaurant has earned itself a regular patronage. The bar stocks a mammoth range of beverages, from fortified wines, spirits and beer (including a small range of African-produced brews), to a gobsmackingly extensive wine menu, which favours Australian and Kiwi varietals.

Cold atmosphere, bare concrete floor, food far too expensive for what you get and meat standard could be better for the high price you pay for it. Don't expect to be full with just the main meal as you will be dissappointed. Very little on your plate. Was told when we said it was cold that the body heat of the people around us would keep us warm. Would not go again.

Overall very good!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal for husbands birthday - we have dined at Scarborough and Hillary's regularly and we were very interested to try the Subiaco Restaurant. Everything was really good - only negative was....get rid of the wooden plates! - i have serious doubts as to the health standards of using wooden plates with the knife marks from previous diners clearly visible! I am fanatical about chopping boards in my own house so i was quite alarmed to have to eat my meal from a wooden surface that had cut marks from other people...otherwise loved it but would have to request a china plate if i was dining there again.

Steak heaven.
- not quite there with the service. Steaks were perfect, the best i've experienced in town, cooked as ordered, sauces on side, all stunningly good. Selection of entrees to share were hard to fault. Disappointing that the detail provided in menu re the location cattle were from, cut, marbling, grass-fed or grain-fed etc was not matched by knowledge of waiter. Asked the difference in characteristic b/w 120day grass fed vs 300 day grain fed, we were told "don't know - it might say in the menu"! Watching the waitress collect our wine order from the bar and then proceed to chat to a colleague for several minutes whilst the ladies at our table waited with empty glasses similarly disappointing. Having to get attention of waiter to advise one main meal seemed to be missing, again, disappointing. All that said, wouldn't take much to overcome these hiccups and become the place to do friday lunch! Will go back soon without a doubt.
