Hippo-lishious
This was not our first visit to hippo creek and we had been looking forward to it, with high expectation. The food, as always, was cooked to perfection. The meat is top notch.

My only (very slight) dissapointment was that they were a bit stingy with the $16 entree of "Mud Huts", which consisted of 4 small stuffed crummed mushrooms. As we were leaving, we saw some of the same dish come out of the kitchen, looking much bigger than our serve!!

Atmosphere is good, we enjoy the new Hillarys restaurant a lot. And the waitress we had that night was very polite and attentive. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be returning soon.

Disappointed
Service had its faults.
All 4 meals were not hot, sent mine back to be reheated. Crocodile was very tough. Very noisy atmosphere. Not value for money.
Complained - but didn't get me anywhere.
Will not be returning.

A nice surprise!
I went for lunch with four girlfriends, two kids and a baby on a weekday. Felt very welcome to have the young 'uns with us, which is not always the case.

No waiting, plently of space for the highchair and pram, and lovely service- completely unobtrusive but attentive- a difficult combination to get right.

Food was delicious. I had the lamb and fetta burger- huge and great value. The girls also ordered from the burger or "light" sections of the menu, and thoroughly enjoyed theirs too. Kids were very happy with meals from kids menu.

We were pleasantly surprised by the smaller-than-expected bill at the end of the meal.

Also very happy to see a licensed restaurant in Perth allowing BYO wine. I think $8 corkage is reasonable for the priviledge.

Not sure why, but I was not expecting much from Hippo Creek (maybe the hype?) but was pleasantly surprised. As Arnie would say, "I'll be baaaack..."

Worth the wait
The food here is absolutely fabulous and cooked (and presented) to perfection. Wait staff assisted with a choice of wine which complimented our chosen meals. Highly recommend the Tasting Plate (Camel, Ostrich, Crocodile, Buffalo) for starters. I'm not normally very adventurous but I really enjoyed trying the game meats, they were all yummy.
Excellent service, very friendly staff and reasonably priced too. Great setting overlooking the harbour too. Only downside is you have to book a month in advance to get into this place, but that is only a measure of how great it really is.

Good place for the men
It's hard to get a booking, we only got one 2 weeks later. I originally booked for 3 people at 7pm on a Sunday night. The Friday before the dinner, I called again to add another person to the booking. The girl who picked up said I had only booked for 2 people. But she did change it from 2 to 4. But they kept calling and trying to confirm for 2 people, and when we arrived for dinner still thought the booking was for 2.

I ordered the hunter's assaghai rump and it was more than enough for me. It was served like a donor kebab (meat on a stand) and quite interesting. I couldn't finish it. Poor side salad, but then again, the focus is on the meat. We walked away satisfied and very full. I may come back and hope that incident won't happen again!

saucy Hippo
We have dined at Hippo Creek twice this year and I actually crave their eye fillet with mushroom sauce! If only we could get a booking! It's so hard to get in but well worth the wait

Amazing
I was worried at first that all the hype I'd heard about this place was going to leave me expecting too much and being disappointed, But wow! Truly amazing steaks with great flavour and there is absolutely no chance the men on the table will walk away hungry. Would be hard-pressed to find a better steak.

Loved it !!
Definitely a great place to eat, staff were friendly, food was fantastic! I ordered the lion's kill ( rump steak with pork ribs) with mushroom sauce and it was delicious! My husband had the 550gm rump and was very impressed. Will definitely be going back soon as this was the best steak we have had in a while.

Vegetarian nightmare - carnivore's delight
Undoubtedly the best steak I have ever eaten. The African Safari tasting plate was interesting and added a bit of excitement to the dinner. Asaghi was absolutely delicious. The serves were more than generous and service was efficient and subtle (nothing I hate more than invasive wait staff).

Best steak in Perth
It's like stepping into a different world...the theme of the restaurant is very warm and inviting and invokes the greatest curiosity for what is going to appear on the menu. The service was fantastic. We were attended by a lovely African Goddess who was more than eager to enhance our dining experience. As for the food....SUPERB. The best steak I have ever had in my life. Portions were enormous. Definitely old school servings. No one goes hungry in this place.Very reasonable prices also. Go for a taste of Africa. Well worth it
