Himalayan eateries have yet to achieve the old-hat familiarity of their Thai, Chinese and Indian contemporaries. They are predominantly frequented by the gastronomically curious and by those who have already experienced the heights (both alpine and culinary) of Nepal firsthand. Himalayan Char Grill offers a great introduction to this cuisine with a broad spectrum of Nepalese eats, from momos (traditional steamed dumplings with a tomato relish) to grilled meat marinated in mild spices, and Himalayan curries.

Not that I know much about Nepalese food but;
You have to love eating here. The smiling waitress zipping back between her curry/spice stall in the corner of the market then back to look after the tables in the restaurant. Being in a supermarket complex the atmosphere is all but non-existent, that is unless you get off on linoleum tables, plastic chairs and a stream of people carting their shopping backwards and forwards. But the food is great. We went for all the recommendations and house specialties and everything was a treat. The momo was so good we had to have more! I can see this is going to become a regular.

Excellent restaurant
Went there after reading about it on this webpage; took some visiting family. The service was impeccable, the most friendly, polite and helpful staff I've ever come across. The grilled prawns were excellent, as was the lal mohan dessert. The atmosphere is so-so since it's sort of in a food court complex, and there's a noisy teppanyaki place next door, but I'd still highly recommend Himalayan Char Grill. A wonderful experience that my guests still talk about! :)

A Personal Favourite
This restaurant is a personal favourite. We have been visiting since the restaurant first opened in Mosman, then followed them to Crows Nest and have always had a terrific meal. A `must have' is the spicy poppadoms with the yogurt dip, the entree of chicken strips and chargrilled capsicum wrapped in eggplant and served on a fabulous green spicy sauce, as well as momo (steamed chicken dumplings with a delicious sauce) and the goat curry. In fact, we are yet to try a dish we haven't enjoyed. Don't be put off by the name Fish Fingers on the entree menu - they are perch fillets and absolutely delicious. We usually go in a group of 6-12 people, and we always share the dishes. We have introduced many friends to this eatery, and now they are taking their friends. There is also plenty of choice for vegetarians.

GREAT restaurant
A really great little restaurant. Food was excellent, service great, and a really lively friendly atmosphere. The food: must try the 'momo' entree. Chilli prawns were the stand-out, though the sekuwa chicken was also good.

Go for the Chargrilled Lamb Backstrap on Potato Cakes
An excellent little spot that is always busy and a favourite of mine. Cheap, good food that is tasty and full of fresh ingredients but not rich or heavy like Indian. Try lamb and goat dishes but ideally go in a small group so you can sample more dishes. Watch out for the waiters though, who try to clear your dishes before you finish, as I guarantee you will be spooning every last drop of sauce.
