This little Japanese restaurant is easily missed. It may not look like much, but if you dodge the distractions of Newtown and concentrate really hard on finding this joint, you will be pleasantly surprised. In a simple setting on King Street, Hikaru serves an extensive sushi and sashimi menu as well as other Japanese favourites. If you're in a hurry, call ahead and the staff will have you meals ready on arrival.

The food is very good here. Very reasonably priced and good quality. Sometimes the food takes a while but it is worth it!

Fabulous!
Vegie dinner box with agedashi tofu was brilliant! My boyfriend says the teriyaki chicken was excellent and we were enthralled by the tempura lettuce! And both the green tea icecream & sesame icecrea were divine! The staff were wonderfully friendly and it's so nice to be out to dinner in Newtown AND hear the person acorss the table!! I'll be back for sure.
