Painted in tasty cheese-yellow and fronted by block-lettered signage, this Mexican burrito bar stands out loudly on Glenferrie Road. Contrary to first impressions, this is not your usual fast-food cafe - in fact, High Tech Burrito Australia presents a healthy, gourmet alternative to the norm. Since its debut in California back in the 1980s, the concept has finally reached Australian shores here in Melbourne. It's as simple as this: pick from beef, chicken, pork, seafood, tofu and vegie fillings, then decide on what beans, rice, tortillas and salsas you'd like, and feel free to add some low-fat cheese, sour cream and/or guacamole, and there you have it. You could also go with the tried-and-true Classic Burrito or the signature High Tech Burrito options, which include the Breakfast Burrito or the Hawaiian Teriyaki. Fancy that - a quick feed that's low in fat and high in taste - that's High Tech Burrito for you.
