Harvest is well known for its weekend brekkie, but the main focus is on its stellar lunch and dinner menu, featuring a unique blend of mod-European, Latin American and gastropub fare. The 1930s cottage was an art gallery/deli until chef Clint Nolan and partner Miles Hull took it over, and they've made sure to preserve the artsy feel with a regularly changing collection. Clint formerly trained under Serge Dansereau (Bathers' Pavilion) at Sydney's The Regent, and also cooked in Europe and Canada, including Vancouver's trendy tapas hotpot, Bin 941. Miles, who runs the floor, used to be GM at the Little Creatures Brewery. The rustic food changes seasonally and features the likes of pine nut and sage-filled pork loin with chipotle sweet potato mash and cafe con leche in summer, or maybe succotash-covered veal rump in winter. For starters, try the trademark oven-dried tomato and goat's cheese salsa served with 'Navajo fry bread' cornbread.
Gourmet Travller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide - ""As you sow, so shall you reap" is a useful maxim but at Harvest you're guaranteed wonderful food and something decent in your glass whether you've been naughty or nice."

Truffle Night
Our 30th wedding anniversary - a planned dining experience to match all others......unfortunately the evening did not live up to expectations - at $120.00 per person you'd have thought a complimentary glass of champers on arrival would be in order but unfortunately all drinks apart from those served with meal were charged for. The truffle menu was very interesting however all courses where sparse and lacking accompaniment - what ever happened to the selection of green vegetables? Wines - again basic - a small glass (taster) offered with each course - if you required more you paid for it. The desert was beautiful and the Bleasdale Tokay offered a balanced supplement - overall the question is - would you do it again = answer no - we left feeling as if we had been taken for a ride - truffles are expensive however, this does not mean quality or quantity of the meal needs to be compromised.

What a great little spot
My fiance had heard about Harvest and took me there for lunch today. An absolute gem of a place, one of those restaurants that is completely unique and manages to deliver a superb menu and upmarket offering in a friendly and welcoming way. Our waitress was great, friendly and personal but left us plenty of space to enjoy our food and conversation. Wine list is on the pricey side, nothing under $40 which is perhaps the only negative but our wine was very good... The food is excellent. One of those places where it is an experience to eat. There are far too many average restaurants serving basic food that Harvest should be commended for rising above the mediocrity and creating an actual dining experience. Anyone who hasn't, should go.

Can't resist a cosy fire
My boyfriend and I ventured into North Freo last Saturday night to have romantic dinner at Harvest, and that is exactly what we got. When we arrived for our booking we were asked if we would like to have a drink on the couch near the fire before dinner, which we did. The fire was too good to resist on a cool July evening. The attentive staff made sure we had wine and water within minutes and didn't bother us while we chilled over a pre dinner drink, after that we moved to our table within the restaurant where the atmosphere was stylish, arty yet still cosy. One point of criticism that I would have is that perhaps it was a little too dark for reading the menu but great for mood. I had a couple of Coffin Bay oysters to start with which were just amazing. Our main meals were beautiful, flavoursome, fresh and extremely rich with flavour which is what you expect when paying a decent amount of money. After our mains we retired back to the couch by the fire where we finished our bottle of wine and indulged in a wicked chocolate and caramel tart with home made marshmallow and mascarpone cheese. For a cosy romantic restaurant I would definitely recommend Harvest.

Not up to expectations
A group of dedicated 'lunchers' went here recently for what turned out to be a very expensive meal which unfortunately did not correlate to the standard of the food, service or tableware. The food was good but not exceptional, one diner's main dish was incorrect and their correct dish finally arrived when everyone else had finished and although the wine was beautiful, the glassware was cheap. No discount was offered for the main dish mix up.

Harvest degustation menu review
There is no doubt Harvest has a fabulous and unique ambience - perfect if you are looking for cosy space on a winter's night. We booked a table for 10 or so in the bottle-lined private dining room. One of my fellow diners had booked this in advance only to be told on the day that it had been double booked and we could not have it. After much protestation, the restaurant reneged and restored our booking... but we had to pay in advance by credit card. Not a great start. We all decided on the degustation menu with wine. At $120 a head, I was expecting something outstanding. The food was innovative and superbly flavoured but at the end of the evening, I was absolutely starving as the portions were ridiculously small. I usually have a pretty healthy appetite but my fellow diners who are usually not so good on the tooth, were also of the same opinion. The wine component of the menu cost $40 a head and we were told that the wines would be matched to the various courses. What we were not told was that we would get a half glass of each wine (which by my calculations amounted to a total of 2 and a half glasses each) I and my fellow diners had to order a couple of supplementary bottles because, frankly, 2 and a half glasses on a Friday night after a busy week at work just does not cut it. The meal ended up costing us $144 a head and I was left sober and starving. Our waitress was friendly, polite and obliging. My only criticism is that she did not seem to notice when our glasses were empty. I did telephone the manager then next day to offer him my views. He listened politely but basically said "This is just Harvest". Fair enough. I have to concede it was a good restaurant with delicious food but I suggest you go only when you have the appetite of a bird or are prepared to pay through the nose for extra food and drink.

A Hidden Gem
Couldn't fault anything, superb, went for the tasting menu, with a glass of wine with each course, again exemplary. Best dining out experience in Fremantle by a long, long way, well done.

Probably the best restaurant in Perth
We have been to Harvest several times in the last two years and it is by far our favourite restaurant in Perth. We have never been let down by the food or the service. It is just an outstanding place. Their food is innovative, yet classic and the menus cater for a huge range of tastes. As well as the food, the service is superb. We love going there because we feel we are given a special treatment by the friendly and very professional staff. The place is cosy and warm. We have even held a birthday dinner in their sensational private room which was a great success. All our friends loved it. Five stars from us!

If you are looking for somewhere different and really interesting with great food, try Harvest. It was, despite a very odd-sounding menu, quite sensational. We'll definitely go again. I had a quail dish for entree (superb) and pork with black pudding for main, with an amazing prune dressing; again, sensational. Heather had the brie for entree and loved it, and the chicken livers for main, and a wonderful choc brownie slice for dessert - very decadent. The place was packed, and that was not suprising. Keith
