Those who know their Latin American cuisine have long been vocal about the lack of decent Mexican food in Sydney. Their prayers have been answered with the arrival of Guzman y Gomez, an authentic taqueria-style eatery, which aims to educate the nacho-eating, tequila-swilling public on the real depth of Mexican food.
The restaurant is inspired by the taquerias - small, often shack-like stands, serving tacos and quesadillas - liberally scattered all over Mexico. However, in concession to the more delicate Aussie nature, Guzman y Gomez is a little less rustic than the originals, featuring neat decor and a cluster of little yellow stools around a communal table (most taquerias have little or no seating).
In the kitchen, chef Rafael Nazario combines Australian produce (lean meat and seafood) with dried chillies from Mexico to create a healthy, tasty range of tacos and burritos. Having chomped through one of these tasty snacks, one can continue the Mexican experience by going to Guzman's website, where the off-beat owners have recorded their own Mexican-style soap opera, Muerdeme.

Beer, Burritos & Hard Shell Tacos
Guzman y Gomez is one of my favourite places to eat in all of Sydney.... I had lunch there today and was so happy to discover that they are now selling booze and hard tacos!! I had 2 crunchy tacos one with chicken guerrero and the other steak and onion all washed down with a corona. YUM.

Rock n roll tacos
Me and my band mates swear by G&G's amazing tacos and nachos. We often stop in after long rehearsals and fuel up on ben nachos and fish tacos. We love these guys so much, we all now drive around with G&G stickers on our cars.
Keep on rockin' G&G!

Finally a real taco
I can't describe how much I enjoyed this place. Authentic flavours that brought tears of joy to my eyes. I recommend popping up the road to the bottle O and grabbing a longneck to wash down those tasty tasty tacos. The salsa was fresh and didn't have too much bite, the beans were fantastic and the meat sublime.
