Decked out with traditional art on its walls, Gurkhas Kitchen is a colourful den that looks somewhat like a Nepalese temple with a modern edge. Indeed, the Gurkhas phenomenon has well and truly swept Melbournians, with six restaurants in places such as Prahran, Brunswick and, in this case, Fitzroy North. Nepalese curries feature highly on the menu, like the kukhura ma krim, a creamy boneless chicken curry, as do vegetarian dishes like vegetable chow, with stir-fried noodles and mixed vegies in soy sauce and other spices.
